Lynne Sorkin, AIA, LEED AP is a licensed architect and Principal with FGM Architects in their PK-12 practice. Her career has included a variety of design, management, and owner representative roles, with a significant focus on educational, institutional and recreational projects.  She offers a depth of understanding for schools planned to serve diverse, urban communities and those situated on complex sites.  She was formerly the Director of Planning and Design for Chicago Public Schools Program Management Office, leading large scale capital improvement programs and providing strategic planning for a broad range of renovation new construction initiatives, including the Modern Schools Across Chicago Program.  Other notable experience includes the Lower and Upper Schools for GEMS World Academy’s Chicago Campus.

She is currently the Co-Chair of AIA Chicago’s Education Knowledge Community, serves on The Brookings Institution’s Playful Learning Landscapes Steering Committee, and is involved with a number of other organizations including the Association for Learning Environments,  Illinois Association of School Business Officials, Chicago Women in Architecture and the Illinois Green Alliance.
